Family Law Mediation

Client-driven legal solutions for the modern family

Why Mediation?

Mediation empowers clients to design their own legal outcomes, putting them in control of the schedule, pace, and expense of the resolution process.

As a result, mediation reduces the emotional and financial costs of otherwise high-conflict legal disputes and leads to more sustainable solutions that stand the test of time.

Laure Kohne, Esq.

After graduating from UC Berkeley, Laure worked as a middle school teacher and literacy consultant for seven years. Now, as an attorney, she leverages her experience as an educator to break down complex legal topics so her clients can make informed decisions that align with their values and goals.

While at UCLA Law, Laure studied mediation and was impressed by its ability to achieve satisfying outcomes for clients and families facing major life transitions like marriage, separation, and divorce. She works exclusively in mediation, believing that it is the most effective way to resolve legal disputes while reducing a family's exposure to emotional and financial stress.

Online Services

Divorce Mediation

My mediation process includes the completion of all required paperwork, mediation sessions addressing custody, property division, and support, and the drafting of a final mediated agreement. Given my experience working with children, I place a particular emphasis on developmentally appropriate and sustainable coparenting plans.

Prenuptial and Postnuptial Mediation

I help both engaged and married couples discuss and develop a road map for their finances during marriage and memorialize their shared vision in a mediated premarital or postmarital agreement.

Structured Separation Coaching

If you and your partner are considering a trial separation, I can assist you in negotiating a Structured Separation contract that includes an interim coparenting plan and co-created guidelines that address the common legal, financial, and relational issues that arise during a separation.

Limited Scope Services

If you need assistance with a discrete family law issue, I can provide document preparation and consulting or mediation services regarding child custody and visitation, spousal and child support, property division, cohabitation agreements, and other areas of family law.
